SUL MAREHanging Sculpture
VENICE DESIGN 2018
Ingrid Sol Leccia has developed a deeply artistic approach to design, bordering on sculpture.
Unveiled at Venice Design 2018, this piece explores a hybrid realm: a sculptural form that doubles as a swing.
The chair, a central object of design, is explored here through the many connections that bind us to it—emotional, aesthetic, cultural, and almost spiritual.
The piece consists of a steel strip over four meters long, laser-cut, welded, bent, and then powder-coated. Its organic design draws inspiration from the shifting lines of the sea surrounding Venice. The rope, inspired by the maritime world, is elevated here to the status of a precious material.
With its immaculate white finish, it complements the Baroque ornamentation of the spaces that house it.
Movement adds an extra dimension, engaging in a direct dialogue with space and the body. The object draws us in, invites us, and creates a sensory interaction.
A unique and timeless piece, it offers an immediate experience, a sense of presence, and an awareness of the world.
